A relaxed atmosphere, personalised to the person.

The sensory room is fully furnished to stimulate the senses in a relaxing environment, with bubble tubes, interactive sounds, smells, light and visual panels covering sight, sound, touch and smell.

The room can also be used for relaxation or sensory massage alongside general personal time, and every session can be tailored — the sounds, lighting and themes shaped around what that person responds to.

How it can help

What time in the sensory room can support.

Relaxation

Soft light and gentle sound can support relaxation and a lower sense of anxiety.

Comfortable repositioning

Time out of the wheelchair can support comfortable positioning and skin health.

Alertness and curiosity

Tactile textures and aromas can support alertness and gentle curiosity.

Personalised engagement

A themed, familiar session can support engagement for people who like structure.

A room that adapts

Set up around the person in it.

Meaningful sounds, lighting, videos and objects can be themed around a person’s own interests or goals, so no two sessions need to look the same.

For people who’d find it helpful, the room can also be used for sensory massage and quiet personal time, rather than a structured activity.

Visit Inspired

Come and see it for yourself.

Visits are relaxed and unhurried. Bring the questions that matter to you, meet the team and look round the spaces at your own pace.

Sensory room sessions can also be booked on their own. Call us to arrange one, or read how booking works.
